It's been a minute since the
last time we had the pleasure of talking to the most attractive sister
in adult films. Unless some of you fellas are really really happy (as in
gay), you know that Heather Hunter was to porn what Jordan was to
NBA...The greatest of all time.
After being the number one
cause of youthful self gratification for adolescent males and
lesbians, Ms. Hunter has hung up her jersey and picked up the mic with
her forthcoming LP Double H: The Unexpected.
Tell me what you are bringing to the rap game.
I can truly say that I am bringing the essence of me. It’s mostly about
my life, where I’ve been, where I’m going, and what I’ve seen. At the
same time, what I’ve experienced and how to do it right if you’re
planning on doing it my way. On top of that, you have the club bangers.
I have some slow cuts for the bedroom.
I have been doing hip hop for the past six years. Akinyele put me on
when I was doing my BET Peep Show. He was one of my guests. He asked me
could I spit. I was like yeah, give me something. That’s when I first
hit the mic. Out of the six years, I did some touring with him and Luke
for two or three. The album is actually almost completed. It’s called
“Double H: The Unexpected”. It’s an hot album. I have the platinum
producers. I have Scott Storch on it, DJ Premier, and Phantom of the
Beat who did “Magic Stick.” I can’t asked for anything more. I have been
representing the hip hop culture since day one.
Is an independent release or backed by a major?
It’s with Select-O-Hits.
What made you decide to pursue a music career?
I have been doing music since ’93. I was signed to Island Records. I had
a single called “I Want It All Night Long”. After I left Island Records,
I went to Tommy Boy Records. We worked on a project, but we really
didn’t know what to with me musically. At that time, I really should
have jump into the rap game. It just didn’t work that way so I got
shelved at Tommy Boy. I was watching all my peeps…Lil Kim and Foxy…show
the true essence of what I’m about. I am the queen of this hip hop sex
stuff.
At the same time, I see them throw my name in and it is the highest
complement. I was like that’s my home. It’s where I am supposed to be.
Now they can actually get it from the horse’s mouth.
Do you feel that your career in adult films will help promote your
project?
I have been retired from the adult business for ten years and I haven’t
danced in features for over four years. Through out my whole life, my
career has been me being the personality I am. I wouldn’t be as popular
as I am if it wasn’t for the adult industry. I just knew that there were
more talents in me that I need to express.
Talk to me about some of the songs.
There’s song I did with DJ Premier called “Freak Like Me” that’s based
on that there’s no freak like me. It tells you exactly who I am and what
I brought to the table. There’s also some knowledge in there for the
young ones telling them to slow it down but they can still be freaks.
I have a ballad called “In Love” that’s about someone looking for
someone to love me for me unconditionally. It’s always good to have
providers in your life, but to find that true love…It’s a beautiful
thing. My club bangers are just wicked. I have to keep the hustle
on. The hustle never stops.
It’s not really surprising since most of the men in the industry are
fans, but you seem to have a special niche in hip hop. Rappers seem to
have a lot of respect for you.
Since the beginning of hip hop, it has always been entwined with sex.
They have always been intrigued by the people in the adult business. I
think that I was the first person to jump from the adult business
because I was always in my hip hop culture. I have been in hip hop since
the Latin Quarters days when I used to work there. Most of the pioneers
of the rap game are good friends of me. Now you have every rapper
getting involved with the adult industry, it’s only right for the adult
stars…like myself… to get into the rap game. I’m like I talk sex and I
do sex…and I do it well…and I know how to flow.
If you had been offered a chance to pursuit a music career when you
first entered the adult industry, what would you have chosen?
I would have chosen the music business, definitely. I really believe
that the way my life was designed was to go into the adult business. I
never question or regret what I have done because I wouldn’t be who I
am. I got this power… and it is an amazing power. I love my magic wand.
This is the way my life has been designed and I am going to keep going
forward.
I have a few other things cracking off. I have a book coming out called
“Simone”. It’s a black hip hop erotic novel that’s fiction, but it is
also based on my life. I have a club opening up in Harlem at the end of
October that I am a part owner of . It’s going to be a bikini bar/ night
club on 126th and Amsterdam named Hunter’s. I have an art show that’s
going to jump off in the spring. I’m a painter too. Didn’t know that did
you? I come from the graffiti culture. There are a lot of things coming
out of Hunter Media. I know it’s going to be a good 2005.
What advice would you offer aspiring adult stars who may want to also
pursue a career in hip hop?
For one thing, never give up. The whole idea of life is that if you want
something; go for it because you will get it. Another thing is, even
though we are a little more open with our sexuality, there is still a
thin line between the adult industry and mainstream entertainment. You
really have to choose one or the other.
