Free & Heard: Shyne Reps Criminal Past on Khaled’s All My Life

  • Posted by admin on 2 February 2010
  • “I need him to find himself a little bit. Not to say he don’t know who he is, I just need him to vibe off a couple beats and be like, ‘Swizz, these are four joints right here I been rocking with, me and Scott Storch or whoever. This is the lane I wanna go with.’ Then I could digest those things and then I can come up with the best records for T.I., Shyne, for everybody. These are different techniques so I can use those darts.” The words of super producer Swizz Beatz, in response to his collaboration with released inmate & former Bad Boy rapper Shyne (born Jamal Michael Barrow, now known as Moses Michael Leviy)

While his project slowly unfolds (working with Scott Storch also expected), Shyne can be heard reflecting upon his criminal past for several bars on the recently leaked version of DJ Khaled’s,All My Life”, also featuring Akon & Mavado.

‘All my life I’ve been rolling with the D’s and the C’s/ Steady ducking the police, ain’t a friend/When they take me ahead, they fill me with lead/ Until it come to an end, I’ll be bleeding in bed/I live slowly let you read in the F.E.D.S., Daddy wasn’t there, but my mama was a gem/But I ain’t trippin’ though, that’s how I kill a flow…’ he raps.

This is the first musical appearance from the rapper since his release from prison & deportation to his homeland of Belize this past October. Shyne has been jailed since June 1, 2001, for his involvement in a Manhattan club shooting (Sean “Diddy“ Combs & girlfriend at the time, Jennifer Lopez were also present).

He is currently fighting to gain residency in the United States.
