DJ Envy‐ aka ‘The People’s Choice’‐ emerged as a top mixtape DJ in NYC’s music game during the mid 90′s; quickly climbing his way up to become the popular celebrity DJ, producer and radio personality that he is recognized as today. In addition to entertaining crowds around the world, the multi‐talented DJ has served as a radio personality for both of NYC’s leading urban radio stations Hot 97 and Power 105.1; he also currently hosts Sirius XM’s Hip Hop Nation.

Recognizing the importance of staying connected to his ever-growing fan base, the popular DJ sought other means of reaching out in this current digital age. After meeting with the talented website and application developers of Cariplex Corp., Envy enlisted them to develop an application for his entrance into the booming market of iPhone apps. Apps enable users to experience the interactivity of traditional social media networking sites, personal websites and music and video websites combined; all through one application with ease from the user’s phone.

Currently the first mainstream urban DJ to develop his own app, he has set the trend that many DJs will soon follow. Many of the app’s features were personally picked by Envy to reflect qualities that would make it simple to keep his fan base connected. Some of the app’s unique features include the ability to stream the entire collection of DJ Envy mixtapes, the ability to participate in an interactive community via blog and various social networking sites, as well as the ability to stream live and access exclusive music and video content.

On March 15th 2010, DJ Envy will be hosting a private industry-only launch party at an NYC hotspot to celebrate the release of his new iPhone app. The party will serve as a celebration, in addition to visually showcasing the app’s features on the video screens for his industry friends and potential clients. The Vitamin Water-sponsored event will be attended by some of Envy’s closest friends; including top DJs, rappers, radio and television personalities and more.
