Utah’s all-star guard, Donovan Mitchell, has been the focal point of recent trade speculations. Rumors of him being traded to the New York Knicks, of him wanting to play for the Miami Heat, and more, circulated the World Wide Web and social media. Today, just minutes ago, ESPN’s senior NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, broke the news! And it comes as no surprise.

For Utah, trading their Allstar continues to confirm that the franchise is looking to rebuild. The Jazz had every intent to disassemble their current roster. If you recall, two months ago, the Jazz sent their All-NBA center, Rudy Gobert, to the Minnesota Timberwolves. And prior to that? Quin Snyder stepped down as Utah’s head coach for the past eight years.
Full trade: Utah is trading Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland for Lauri Markkanen, Ochair Agbaji, Collin Sexton, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps, sources tell ESPN.

It wouldn’t be a complete trade without other pieces being offered and moved around. Shortly after breaking the news, Woj then followed up with full details of the trade. Lauri Markkanen, Ochair Agbaji, Collin Sexton and three unprotected first-round picks + two pick swaps in next year’s draft were sent to Utah in return. Needless to say, Donovan came at a hefty price tag, but given his rise in dominance, it surely was worth it for Cleveland.
