LaKeith Stanfield has released the official video for “Fast Life,” featuring Kid Cudi, marking his debut under Def Jam and a return to music alongside his acting career.
Directed by Jeymes Samuel, the cinematic short shows a surreal night out, with narration by Taraji P. Henson and cameos from Madeline Brewer, John Boyega, David Oyelowo, Jimmy Akingbola, and Stanfield’s wife, Kasmere.
Stanfield revealed he wrote the track about seven years ago during what he called a “turbulent, exciting, and sad” time. He described the process as a way to transform difficulties into art.
Kid Cudi’s verse adds reflection on fame and personal growth, while Stanfield credits Samuel with layering deeper meaning and unease into the video’s atmosphere.
“Fast Life” highlights Stanfield’s expansion from screen to studio, merging his storytelling in both music and film.
