Luka Dončić finished with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists in the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night. Los Angeles moved to 17–6. Philadelphia fell to 13–10.
LeBron James added 29 points, seven rebounds and six assists. His scoring in the final minutes helped the Lakers close out the game. James drew contact on a drive with 14 seconds remaining and converted free throws that kept Los Angeles in front.
Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 28 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. The 76ers stayed within range late after a series of drives by Maxey and a shot from the corner that cut the margin to two.
Los Angeles relied on Dončić’s work in the half court to control possessions. His rebounds limited second-chance chances for Philadelphia and set up transition looks. The Lakers held a narrow lead through most of the fourth quarter before the teams traded scores in the final minutes.
Philadelphia had a final chance to extend the game, but a contested attempt from the arc missed before Dončić secured the ball as time expired.
The matchup was the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
