‘Mercy’ Trailer Introduces an AI-Driven Future of Criminal Justice

The first trailer has been released for Mercy, a film that explores how artificial intelligence could shape the future of the criminal justice system.

Set in the near future, the film centers on a detective played by Chris Pratt who is accused of murdering his wife. He is placed on trial before an advanced AI judge, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson. The system is one he once supported, a detail that adds tension to the case.

According to the trailer, the trial follows strict rules. The detective has 90 minutes to prove his innocence before the AI judge delivers a final decision. The story unfolds in real time as evidence, memory, and machine judgment collide.

Mercy was filmed for IMAX and will be released in 3D, with the theatrical format positioned as part of the experience.

The film opens exclusively in theaters on Jan. 23. The trailer’s release is being promoted under the hashtag #MercyMovie.
