R&B singer Trey Songz was arrested and arraigned in Manhattan this month on multiple criminal charges following two separate incidents in New York City, according to court records and police reports.
Songz, 41, whose legal name is Tremaine Neverson, was taken into custody early Dec. 14 after police said he damaged property at a Midtown Manhattan hookah lounge and nightclub.
In the early morning hours at Mira Mediterranean & Hookah Lounge on East 34th Street, authorities allege Songz damaged hookahs, DJ equipment, and furniture, causing more than $1,500 in losses.
The arrest led investigators to a separate Dec. 4 incident at Dramma Night Club near Times Square. Prosecutors allege Songz punched a club employee after being told the venue was closing. Court filings state the employee reported swelling and pain.
Songz was charged with assault, harassment, and criminal mischief in connection with the two incidents. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court and was released on his own recognizance.
His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, said Songz “is cooperating fully and looks forward to the facts coming to light.” Schuster said the incidents began after Songz was confronted and surrounded.
A judge scheduled his next court appearance for Feb. 18. Prosecutors also obtained an order of protection for the nightclub employee.
Songz is a Grammy-nominated artist known for songs including “Bottoms Up,” “Say Aah” and “Heart Attack.”
