Syd Drops New Single “GMFU” Featuring Raphael Saadiq

GRAMMY Award-winning artist Syd has released a new single, “GMFU,” through Free Lunch/Warner Records. The track was produced by Rodney Jerkins and includes bass from Raphael Saadiq.

On the song, Syd directs sharp words at an ex, layered over an organ-driven instrumental. The release contrasts with her earlier 2023 single “Die For This,” described as a more vulnerable track.

Syd has been a consistent presence in music since her 2017 solo debut Fin. She later joined her band THE INTERNET for Hive Mind, which earned critical recognition. Her career highlights include a GRAMMY win for co-writing Beyoncé’s “Plastic Off the Sofa” from Renaissance and collaborations with Zayn, Lil Uzi Vert, Kehlani, Disclosure, and Kelly Rowland.

Outside of music, Syd has worked on campaigns with Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Adidas, and built her own Los Angeles studio. This year, she marked the 10th anniversary of THE INTERNET’s Ego Death, considered a breakthrough for the group.

“GMFU” is available to stream, and a lyric video has been released online.
