The first official trailer for The Long Walk has arrived, giving audiences a gripping preview of the upcoming film adaptation based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel, originally published under the pen name Richard Bachman.
Directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games), the film reimagines a bleak future in a militarized United States where 100 teenage boys are forced into a brutal endurance contest. The rules are simple but deadly—keep walking at a set pace or be executed. Only one can survive, and the reward is said to be anything he wants.
The trailer introduces Raymond Garraty, played by Cooper Hoffman, as he enters the contest and forms a fragile alliance with fellow walker Peter McVries, portrayed by David Jonsson. As the miles add up, so do the emotional and physical stakes, revealing the psychological cost of survival in a society where violence is institutionalized and suffering is entertainment. The cast also includes Judy Greer, Mark Hamill, Charlie Plummer, and Roman Griffin Davis.
The Long Walk is scheduled to premiere in theaters in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland on September 12, 2025.
