Trevor Jackson has released “Friend of a Friend,” the lead single from his upcoming project with UnitedMasters. The song marks his first musical release in two years.
The track explores emotional strain at the end of a relationship, marked by repeated miscommunication and suspicion. Jackson sings, “She ain’t nothing but a friend of a friend of a friend / We go through this again and again and again,” reflecting the tension and repetition that often follow heartbreak.
Written at the end of a six-year relationship, the single sets the tone for what Jackson calls his most honest project to date. The lyrics draw on themes of emotional healing and shifting masculinity.
Jackson, known for roles on Grown-ish, Superfly, and Grey’s Anatomy, continues to build a dual career in music and acting. He joined Grey’s Anatomy in Season 21 and is set to return for Season 22.
“Friend of a Friend” is available now on all streaming platforms.
