Gabby Samone, an American Idol Season 23 finalist and artist with a growing online following, will release her first single, “Complicated,” on Friday, Jan. 16. The song will be available on all major digital streaming platforms through BMG.
The release follows a year that brought increased attention after Samone’s run on American Idol and a headlining tour, Gabby Samone: Live at City Winery. The single marks her move from television exposure to a recording career centered on original music.
“Complicated” was co-written by Samone with YXSH, Jonathan Ball, and Cornell Showell. Production is credited to YXSH and Mike “gaddii” Saunders. The song focuses on the choice to revisit a past relationship and the tension that follows.
Lyrics include, “Questions, like will we make it this time/Is it worth the rewind,” reflecting themes of doubt and reflection tied to renewed connection after heartbreak.
With the release of “Complicated,” Samone introduces her recorded work to listeners following her rise from televised competition to independent music releases.
