Urban Magazine’s new issue features Blue Kimble on the cover, tracing his path from pro football to acting and production. Kimble moved into entertainment after leaving sports, first taking small roles on “The Game,” “Being Mary Jane,” and “Devious Maids.”
His breakout came in 2020 as Andrew on the Tyler Perry series “Ruthless,” followed by work on “P-Valley” and “The Black Hamptons.” He now co-leads Viral Productions, which is developing its first project, “117 Years of Movie Bullsh*t.”
“In his hands, Black narratives feel protected,” says writer Lís Bryant, who penned the cover story. “He holds our past gently and pushes our future with purpose.”
Actress Adriyan Rae appears in the issue discussing her nomination for her performance as Hazel Flood in the video game South of Midnight. Rae talks about the motion-capture process and how she views the nomination as a step forward for performers in gaming.
The publication also profiles LáJaneé Scott, described as a renowned journalist whose work spans reporting, authorship, and digital campaigns. Scott has highlighted the importance of expanding access for underrepresented voices in media.
