According to CNN Business, retailers are just realizing that plus-size women are a market with over 20 billion dollars in buying power. Not only is this market a huge value, it is expected to continue to grow. Non-plus celebs like Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Gabrielle Union and Lala Anthony have also paired with national brands to design plus-sized clothing collections. While the plus-sized Movement may be news to Wall Street and Hollywood, for Vh1 reality star, “Poprah” this comes as no surprise. It is, in fact, the story of her life.

The plus-size diva was a popular contestant on Vh1’s “I Want to Work for Diddy,” Season 1 & 2 and voted Reality TV’s 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year. Kim “Poprah” Kearney is just as driven and motivated as the two moguls who inspired her name, P. Diddy and Oprah Winfrey. Since her breakout appearance on reality TV, she has expanded her business to television production including the creation of her own reality TV competition series, “Who’s Got Curves,” the first TV model competition exclusively for curvy girls.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of the show, Kearney is launching a ground-breaking event called “CurveAThon”— a mega-casting session for the top fashion shows, TV shows and modeling agencies scouting Curvy Women AND Big & Tall Men. There will be six plus-sized casting calls in one day, all in one location. Castings include opportunities with Full Figured Fashion Week, Curvy Fashionista, Crusade of Curves, Curvy Model Management, The Curvy Alliance, Season 2 of “Who’s Got Curves” and more.

The event will also include, workshops, and “Curve-Friendly” vendors, followed by the official launch party for the “Who’s Got Curves” TV reality show. The event is designed to empower, validate and recognize curvy women as well as big & tall men through educational, business, financial and career opportunities.

“The goal of “CurveAThon”, Kearney says, “is to recognize curvy women for their buying power, knowledge, expertise and influence. We want to align curvy women with people, businesses, and organizations who recognize, respect, and embrace their influence and power.”

The full day of workshops, fashion and film castings are all exclusively curated for curvy women sizes 12 & up and big & tall men. The first 100 attendees will receive a complimentary gift bag filled with products from sponsors. Ticketed guests have the choice of upgrading to a “Beauty and Lifestyle Package” catered toward curvy models and fashionistas, or a “Boss Chic Package,” focused on entrepreneurship and financial freedom.

After a full day of excitement, “CurveAThon” attendees are invited to attend the exclusive launch party for the reality show, “Who’s Got Curves.” The show features contestants from across the country competing for prizes and opportunities which will elevate their modeling careers. Many of the show finalists will be in attendance at the launch event. The show is sponsored by Hairnamics, The Boss Architect, New You Hair and Wigs, Hemp 4 Real, Georgia’s Best Real Estate, Facemax Cosmetics, Jewel Pads, Bandelettes, Class Act Security, and other companies who whole-heartedly support the curvy movement.

CurveAThon and the “Who’s Got Curves,” launch party is January 18th from 9am to 5pm at Sonesta Gwinnett Place in Atlanta. For ticket or sponsorship information, click the News/Events tab at www.whosgotcurves.com.
