On his latest effort, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West has returned to the proven recipe that made his first three albums among the best the genre has ever offered.
The famed producer/rapper showcases his unrivaled production skills with an expanded range of song writing. Incredibly, each record is completely different in subject and sound than the others, yet seamlessly fit on the same album. Whether the big band sound of “All of the Lights, ” or the simplistic loop of the melodic driven “Runaway, ” they all perfectly fit together.
Other exceptional tracks include, “So Appalled,” “Power,” “Devil in a New Dress,” and “Blame Game.”
Only the star studded “Monster” that features Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj, fails to carry its own weight in comparison to the rest of the album. While the individual performances are great, it lacks the same level of creative development we have come to expect from West.
Nonetheless, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a perfect addition to West’s collection of classic albums. He continues to prove that he is not only the best producer in Hip-Hop, he is the genre’s overall most talented artist hands down.
