For Foodies Only: Smashed Mofongo Burger

Directions:

  1. Peel and slice plantains and boil in salt water until tender. Drain and set aside to cool.
  2. Chop the bacon, mince the garlic, and add all in a bowl with the adobo seasoning, parsley, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, and some butter. Set aside Put the plantains in a food processor, and make sure there are no lumps. Then combine with the rest of the ingredients and add the beef. Chill overnight.
  3. Divide the ground beef evenly into 3-ounce beef balls. Place the ball of beef on a hot pan. Press the balls of meat with a large flat metal spatula. Use a piece of parchment paper between the spatula and the burger to ensure it doesn’t stick.
  4. Flip the patties with a metal spatula. Add American cheese. Butter and toast Brioche bun. After toasting, spread Spicy Mayo Ketchup on the bun. Add toppings, sliced tomato, lettuce, etc.

Ingredients:

  • 6 strips of cooked Bacon
  • 2 lbs Beef 80/20
  • 2 Plantains
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tsp Parsley
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Coarse Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Adobo Seasoning
  • Red Onion
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Spicy Mayo Ketchup
  • American Cheese Slices
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • Brioche Buns
