iHeartMedia and Charlamagne Tha God’s The Black Effect Podcast Network on Tuesday announced the launch of entertainment executive Amber Grimes’ new podcast, “If You Knew Better.”
The series will focus on growth, reinvention, setbacks, and strategies tied to personal and professional success. The show joins The Black Effect, a platform centered on amplifying Black voices across culture, business, and entertainment.
“The Black Effect is on a mission to amplify the voices of Black women, and I’m so honored to be one of the voices they believe in,” Grimes said.
Dollie S. Bishop, president of the Black Effect Podcast Network, said the show aligns with the company’s goals.
“We firmly believe in the power of authentic dialogue from authentic voices,” Bishop said. “‘If You Knew Better’ embodies our commitment to creating content that not only inspires but equips our listeners with the tools and information they need to grow and evolve with intention.”
Grimes said the podcast stems from her own experience navigating career shifts without guidance.
“I created ‘If You Knew Better’ because I recognize many of us are navigating growth and big life transitions without real mentorship or honest conversations,” she said. “The show is built around the belief that experience is the best teacher. Whether it’s a solo episode or a conversation with a guest, we take lived experience, extract the lessons, and turn them into practical tools.”
Grimes, a college dropout, rose to become executive vice president and general manager of Love Renaissance, known as LVRN. She oversees daily operations, marketing strategy and revenue generation at the Atlanta-based label.
Under her leadership, the company’s roster — including Summer Walker, 6LACK, Belly Gang Kushington, Odeal and TxC — expanded its global presence. Grimes has played a central role in the label’s growth and operations, helping shape strategy across departments.
Beyond her corporate work, Grimes has advocated for diversity and inclusion in music, pushing for broader representation and opportunities for Black women in executive roles.
“You can’t rewrite the past, but you can learn from it,” Grimes said in describing the theme of the podcast. She built her career without a traditional path and said she hopes to share lessons that can serve as guidance for others.
“If You Knew Better with Amber Grimes” will be available on the iHeartRadio app and major podcast platforms.
