A federal jury found blogger Milagro Gramz liable in a defamation case brought by Megan Thee Stallion, delivering a verdict that addressed online claims and a manipulated video at the center of the dispute.
The jury ruled that Gramz, whose legal name is Milagro Cooper, caused emotional harm and promoted an altered sexual depiction of the rapper, whose legal name is Megan Pete, according to reporting from ABC News, NBC Miami, and Rolling Stone. The panel initially awarded $75,000, though a judge later reduced the amount to $59,000 after removing a portion tied to a defamation count that required prior notice under Florida law, NBC Miami reported.
Pete filed the suit in 2024, accusing Gramz of spreading false claims and amplifying an AI-generated video that circulated online. During the trial, Pete described the effect of the posts on her health and career. ABC News reported that she testified about severe emotional distress and significant therapy costs.
Gramz acknowledged sharing a link to the manipulated video during a livestream before deleting it, according to NBC Miami. Her attorney argued the clip was already public.
The case drew national attention due to its focus on deepfake media and online harassment. Rolling Stone reported that the jury found Gramz responsible for intentional infliction of emotional distress, though the judge struck the defamation portion based on state law protections for media defendants.
