The 57th NAACP Image Awards honored achievement in film, television, music, and more on Feb. 28, with Sinners, Abbott Elementary, and standout individual winners taking top honors at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
The annual celebration by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People highlighted achievements by people of color in entertainment and public life.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners dominated the film categories, winning 13 awards, including Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Actor for Michael B. Jordan. Jordan, who also was named Entertainer of the Year, dedicated his honors to the late Chadwick Boseman.
Cynthia Erivo was named Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her work in Wicked: For Good, while Miles Caton earned Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture for Sinners.
Sinners also won multiple creative and technical honors, including Outstanding Costume Design and Outstanding Cinematography.
In television, Abbott Elementary captured major awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for Quinta Brunson. Sterling K. Brown was named Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for Paradise, and Angela Bassett won Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for 9-1-1. Reasonable Doubt was named Outstanding Drama Series.
Viola Davis received the NAACP Chairman’s Award, reflecting on her journey from childhood challenges to sustained success in film and television. Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella were inducted into the NAACP Hall of Fame, and Colman Domingo received the President’s Award.
Musical honors included Outstanding Male Artist for Kendrick Lamar and Outstanding Female Artist for Cardi B. Other awards spanned animated motion picture, digital content creators, and youth performances across film, television, and online platforms.
The event’s broadcast on CBS and BET underscored a year of achievement and cultural impact, with winners chosen for celebrating and advancing Black voices across entertainment and media.
