OWN For The Holiday 2025

OWN Unwraps Three New Holiday Films Focused on Family, Friendship, and Community

OWN is bringing back its “OWN for the Holidays” tradition with three new movies, each centered on everyday people navigating love, conflict, and community during the holiday season.

The first film, “Fake Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” airing Nov. 29, follows a college professor (Kiki Layne) who tells family and colleagues she is in a relationship to stop questions about her personal life. The story turns when her former partner (Etienne Maurice) unexpectedly shows up and meets the man she claimed to be dating. The film tracks how she works through the confusion she created while trying to protect her peace during the holidays.

“The Christmas Showdown,” scheduled for Dec. 6, turns to two women (Amber Stevens West and Corbin Reid) who once shared a close friendship. Both pursue the same event-design job for a major holiday celebration, placing them on opposite sides of a competition they never expected. As they prepare for the assignment, the film follows how they confront the distance that grew between them and whether the season offers room to repair what they lost.

“Very Merry Mystery,” airing Dec. 13, brings together a beauty-shop owner (Ashleigh Murray) and her detective boyfriend (Tristan Mack Wilds). What begins as a lighthearted Christmas murder-mystery party shifts when the host disappears. The pair steps in to help, moving between concern for the missing host and the impact the incident has on the town’s holiday spirit. Their search becomes as much about community as it is about answers.

OWN has reportedly stated the trio of films continues its commitment to stories centered on relationships, family ties, and moments that test people during a time of year that often brings reflection and connection.
