Hip-hop and soul artist Rian Wyld, who drew national headlines with a viral diss track targeting Timbaland, will release her new single, “Next Move,” on major streaming platforms tonight at midnight.
The track, produced by Sha Tha Goddess, was first made available on the artist-to-fan platform EVEN. It continues Wyld’s commentary on the music industry while responding to recent remarks by veteran music executive Damion “Damizza” Young. “As I say in my next single, ‘Next Move,’ bum boys hate to see a woman be a boss,” Wyld said.
Wyld rose to national attention with her diss track “Comments,” described by AllHipHop as “a blistering diss” that challenged Timbaland’s embrace of AI-generated music and use of material from lesser-known artists.
In a recent AllHipHop profile, Wyld reflected on her journey after the loss of her brother Ryan to gun violence and said listeners could expect “Hip-Hop with a lot of soul.”
The single’s release comes as Rian Wyld builds momentum, generating more than a million social media impressions and coverage across outlets including AllHipHop, SYL Media, FEMI Magazine, VPR Radio, and WRBB Radio in Boston.
