Sharon Marley has announced her debut album, “Firebird,” scheduled for release on March 20, 2026. The reggae singer-songwriter and three-time Grammy Award winner is the daughter of Bob and Rita Marley and has spent decades contributing to music and culture behind the scenes and on stage.
The album reflects Marley’s roots and centers on resilience, rebirth, empowerment, and love. It honors the Marley legacy while focusing on her own experiences and perspective. The project brings together multiple generations of collaborators and highlights women’s voices in reggae.
The first single from the album, “Steppah,” features Big Youth. The song draws from classic rub-a-dub dancehall, driven by bass and drums. The music video was directed by Marley’s daughter, Donisha Prendergast.
The title track, “Firebird,” is the second single. Written by Marley and co-produced with Ingemar Prendergast, the song blends reggae with Delta blues and features lead guitar by Mark McClairy.
A third single, “Island,” will be released on March 6, 2026. The song features Cedella Marley and Rica Newell and focuses on unity, womanhood, and love for Jamaica. Cedella Marley and Newell were members of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers alongside Ziggy and Stephen Marley.
Streaming proceeds from “Island” will be donated to Humanity Ova Vanity, a Canada-based organization that supports emergency response, housing stability, and long-term recovery in underserved and disaster-affected communities. Donation details will be available on the Sharon Marley website.
Produced by Leroy Romans, “Firebird” includes eleven tracks. The album uses 432 Hz tuning, an alternative to the modern 440 Hz standard, which some believe supports relaxation and well-being.
The album artwork is a hand-painted portrait of Sharon Marley created by digital artist and poet Komi Olafimihan.
“This album is a spiritual gift from my mother to me. I’ve poured a lot of emotions into it, making it not just about music but about my journey. Hopefully, sharing my experiences of healing, passion, and transformation will inspire others to tune into their gifts and embrace their purpose,” Marley said.
