SZA has reached a historic milestone on the Billboard charts. Her album SOS is now the first by a female artist to spend 100 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, according to chart data released this week.
The record, released in December 2022, debuted at No. 1 and spent 10 nonconsecutive weeks at the top. It has not fallen out of the top 20 since its release.
Along the way, SOS broke another benchmark earlier this year, surpassing Michael Jackson’s Thriller as the album by a Black artist with the most weeks in the chart’s top 10.
The project includes several charting singles, including “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” and “Nobody Gets Me.” A deluxe edition titled Lana was issued in 2024 with 19 additional tracks, giving the album another boost on streaming platforms.
The Recording Industry Association of America has certified SOS six-times Platinum. The set also holds the record for the longest-running No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, leading for 100 weeks.
SZA collected four Grammy Awards for the project in 2024, including Best Progressive R&B Album. It also won Album of the Year at the BET and Soul Train Music Awards and International Album of the Year at the Juno Awards.
The feat highlights SZA’s rising influence in popular music and cements SOS as one of the most enduring releases of the decade.
