Teyana Taylor Wins First Golden Globe for One Battle After Another

Teyana Taylor won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture Sunday at the 83rd annual ceremony in Beverly Hills, marking her first Globe win for her role in One Battle After Another.

Taylor, 35, accepted the award during the early portion of the show hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton. Her character, Perfidia Beverly Hills, appears in the Paul Thomas Anderson–directed film, which led the evening with multiple nominations and wins.

Onstage, Taylor was emotional and at times tearful as she thanked those who supported her career. “To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability,” she said, adding that “our light does not need permission to shine” and that “our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”

Taylor also thanked her family, director Paul Thomas Anderson, and her castmates in the film. In remarks to Extra after the ceremony, she said the win “means everything” for her and for others who have waited for recognition in the industry.

In her acceptance speech, Taylor mixed humor with gratitude. She joked about her children watching at home and acknowledged she “almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I’d win,” then shifted to more serious thanks to mentors and collaborators.

One Battle After Another won several top honors at the Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and awards for directing and screenplay.

Taylor first gained public attention as a singer and performer before expanding into acting and other creative fields. Her Golden Globe win is being viewed as a significant milestone in her entertainment career.
