UMI has unveiled her latest single and music video, “RIGHT WRONG,” the centerpiece track from her new album people stories, released today on Epic Records.
The rising R&B artist showcases her hallmark vocal style on the song, layering smooth delivery over a restrained production that highlights both intimacy and clarity. “RIGHT WRONG” unfolds as a swooning love song, underscored by a nostalgic visual treatment. The accompanying video channels the mood of early 2000s MTV, blending storytelling with the familiar aesthetics of that era.
In describing the track, UMI pointed to a deeply personal source of inspiration.
“This song was freestyle written about a conversation between me and my higher self inspired by my mom,” she said. “My mom has taught me how to hear my inner voice by teaching me that there is no right or wrong in life – rather there is what feels good and what doesn’t. When I feel lost on my path I ask my mom for guidance. She guides me without judgement the same way my inner voice does for me when I’m alone. This song is like a conversation between me and her – as she teaches me how to trust myself. ‘RIGHT WRONG’ is a reminder to follow the heart & to lean on those you love.”
