Teyana Taylor has returned with Escape Room, a short film and companion album that marks her first major project since stepping back from music in 2020.
The film, produced through her company The Aunties, premiered this month with an Amazon Music livestream in Culver City before becoming available on Prime Video. Blending romance and noir-thriller elements, it explores themes of heartbreak, healing, and self-renewal.
The 22-track album includes appearances from Lucky Daye, Jill Scott, Tyla, and Kaytranada, along with interludes voiced by Taraji P. Henson, Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, and Regina King. LaKeith Stanfield and Aaron Pierre star alongside Taylor in the film, with its lead single “Long Time” serving as a centerpiece.
Taylor has described the project as a safe space for release and transformation. Escape Room is now streaming on Prime Video and YouTube, with the album available on major music platforms.
