Police arrested a Florida woman accused of firing multiple gunshots at the Beverly Hills home of singer and businesswoman Rihanna while the artist and her family were inside, authorities said.
The suspect, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, was taken into custody Sunday after investigators said she opened fire toward the gated entrance of the residence from a vehicle parked across the street. Officers booked Ortiz on suspicion of attempted murder.
Los Angeles police responded to reports of shots fired about 1:15 p.m. on March 8 in the Beverly Hills area. Dispatch recordings indicated a caller reported hearing about 10 gunshots during the incident.
Investigators said the suspect fired the shots from a white Tesla using an AR-15-style rifle. The gunfire struck the property’s exterior gate and a nearby recreational vehicle, leaving visible damage but causing no injuries.
Police said Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, and their children were inside the home at the time. All were unharmed.
Authorities said Ortiz fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Officers tracked the vehicle and arrested her roughly 30 minutes later at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center, about eight miles away.
Police recovered the rifle and shell casings from the vehicle during the arrest. Ortiz is being held on bail of more than $10 million while the investigation continues.
Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division are investigating the motive. Officials said it remains unclear whether the suspect had any personal connection to Rihanna.
Authorities said the case remains active. Representatives for Rihanna have not issued a public statement.
