Game 4 of the WNBA ’22 Finals: CT Falls to LV

Las Vegas Aces

The Las Vegas Aces can now call themselves WNBA champions, for the first time in franchise history, after defeating the Connecticut Sun in Game 4 this past Sunday – who were also chasing after their first ring. Connecticut was looking to tie the series on their home turf, but the Aces’ offense was too much to handle. Despite having runs that gave a glimmer of hope to the nearly sold-out arena, the lack of consistency from the Sun’s offense eventually determined their fate.

The road to the Finals was nearly a breeze for the Aces after sweeping the Phoenix Mercury in the first round and then beating out the Seattle Storm, 3-1, in the semifinals. In Game 4, Chelsea Gray came up clutch, which earned her the Finals MVP trophy – after being snubbed during the WNBA All-Star & All-WNBA selections.

It was bittersweet for Connecticut Sun players and fans hoping they’d win their first WNBA Finals championship title as well. On a positive note, despite their offensive struggles, the Sun did not make it easy for the Aces, defensively. Their physicality was often unmatched, keeping the game competitive and fans on the edges of their seats.

Even in the final minutes, with the game tied at 67 and under three minutes to go, they battled it out. But the Aces were just unstoppable despite the Sun’s effort.
