Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, YUNGBLUD and More to Lead MTV VMA Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne

The MTV Video Music Awards will spotlight a historic moment in rock this year. Organizers announced a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne that brings together Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, YUNGBLUD, and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. The group will perform a medley of Osbourne’s biggest hits in a salute to the “Prince of Darkness.”

Osbourne’s influence spans decades. He has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earned five Grammy Awards and was inducted twice into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — first with Black Sabbath in 2006, then as a solo artist in 2024. His career honors also include stars on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Birmingham Walk of Stars.

His history with MTV is long and varied, from appearances on Headbanger’s Ball and the Battle for Ozzfest competition series to the family reality hit The Osbournes. In 2014, he received the MTV EMA Global Icon Award.

Later this year, Paramount+ will premiere Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, a feature-length documentary about his life and career.

The 2025 MTV VMAs, hosted by LL COOL J, will air live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS. The show will simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the United States.
