Rooted In Rhythm brought together an enthusiastic crowd of music lovers on October 18th, 2025, at District 121, proving that nothing can dampen the spirit of live performance—even a bit of rain.
We kicked the day off with the Rodeo Party Bus, which took participants to Rancher Hat Bar and Lane Boots, where exclusive discounts were offered to create custom hats and grab their boots before the show. The party bus was hosted by the dynamic duo Saddle Up Sundaze, setting an exciting tone for the day. Kicking off the evening, DJ J Lex got everyone in the festive spirit as attendees gathered.

ShySpeaks, a hip hop and spoken word artist, opened with a captivating piece called “Rooted In Rhythm,” accompanied by interpretive dancers that brought her words to life and summed up what the event was all about. Kayenne The Cowboy followed with an exhilarating set, showcasing his vibrant style and connection to his Louisiana roots. The Squeezebox Bandits delivered an unforgettable performance that got the crowd dancing, while Adrian Garza, the other Fort Worth native, followed up with an incredible acoustic style performance. Maurice The Music wowed everyone by playing the guitar and trumpet while simultaneously delivering a fantastic vocal performance. Amira Unplugged took the stage next, delivering a powerful performance that left a lasting impression.
Hosts Nina The Emcee and Devin Wilmott-Johnson perfectly complemented each other throughout the event, ensuring a joyous experience for all. Valerie Ponzio, The Kentucky Gentlemen, and Elsie each brought their own flair to the event, creating an atmosphere that celebrated the diversity of country music. Headliner Pynk Beard closed the show with an explosive set that left everyone on their feet.

Tighten Up With Tiff led the crowd in line dancing, capping off a series held by the Millennial Maven Creative Foundation since April at District 121. Councilwoman Gere’ Feltus made a quick appearance to thank attendees for celebrating culture in McKinney, emphasizing the importance of community events. McKinney Community Development Corporation Board Chair Angela Richardson-Woods also addressed the audience, discussing how spending money locally helps create opportunities for events like “Rooted In Rhythm” to be supported through promotional grants.
“In spite of the weather, the energy and enthusiasm from the crowd were incredible,” said Valese Jones, co-founder of the Millennial Maven Creative Foundation. “We hope to continue to grow this event in the city of McKinney, showcasing all the different cultures that make the DFW area what it is.”

In addition to the incredible performances, attendees were treated to exquisite custom cocktails curated by Moore Libations, inspired by the four headliners’ singles. These unique drink creations were a hit, perfectly complementing the vibrant atmosphere of the event. Moore Libations stands out in the DFW area for her talent in crafting original syrups and recipes, showcasing her expertise and creativity in mixology. With her passion for delivering exceptional drinks, she elevated the overall experience for VIP guests.
The Common Table generously hosted our artists and team by sponsoring meals throughout the day, ensuring everyone was well-fed and energized for the performances. Their support extended beyond the event, as they also threw the official after party, which drew a fantastic crowd and kept the celebration going late into the night. The welcoming atmosphere and delicious food made The Common Table a perfect partner.

Bridgette Jones, executive director and also a co-founder, added, “We are beyond grateful for the support from everyone involved—the artists, attendees, and sponsors. Together, we are not just celebrating music but also making a meaningful impact in the lives of creatives.”
Despite the rain, attendees embraced the spirit of resilience, and the energy remained high throughout the day. The festival not only celebrated incredible musical talent but also aimed to empower creatives and support the Millennial Maven Creative Foundation’s mission to uplift artists in the community.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward replacing instruments lost by women and youth during natural disasters, and we thank all attendees, artists, and sponsors for their support.
