Stephen A. Smith Criticizes Megan Thee Stallion Over Public Breakup Claims

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith has drawn attention after criticizing Megan Thee Stallion for publicly discussing allegations that NBA player Klay Thompson cheated during their relationship.

Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, Smith said relationship disputes should remain private and questioned why the rapper chose to air grievances in public. He said he did not know what happened between the pair, but argued the matter should have stayed out of public view.

Smith also defended Thompson’s public image, saying the basketball star had not spoken negatively about Megan Thee Stallion and did not deserve to be publicly embarrassed over the breakup.

The comments came days after Megan Thee Stallion confirmed the split and said trust, fidelity, and respect had been broken. Multiple outlets reported she accused Thompson of cheating in social media posts before issuing a broader statement about ending the relationship.

Neither Thompson nor his representatives had publicly responded to the allegations as of Tuesday.

The dispute has fueled online debate, with some social media users backing Smith’s privacy argument while others said Megan Thee Stallion had the right to speak openly about her own experience.

Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson first went public with their relationship in 2025.
