A GoFundMe page has been launched for the family of Ashly Robinson, known online as Ashlee Jenae, after she was found unconscious during a birthday trip to Zanzibar and later pronounced dead.
The fundraiser had raised more than $14,000 within about four hours of going live, according to the page.
Robinson traveled to Zanzibar, Africa, to celebrate her 31st birthday. According to a statement posted on GoFundMe, the trip also included an engagement.
The post said, in part:
“Many of you have reached out asking how you can support our family during this unimaginable time, and we are so grateful for the love and prayers. Our beloved daughter, Ashly Robinson, traveled to Zanzibar, Africa to celebrate her 31st birthday and got engaged during what should have been a joyful and memorable trip. Just days later, she was found unconscious in her villa at the Zuri Hotel and was rushed to a local hospital, where her death was confirmed hours later. What was meant to be a dream became our family’s worst nightmare.”
The family said they are working through an investigation and trying to manage arrangements to return her body home while seeking answers about what happened.
