Actor Danny Trejo, known primarily for his ‘Machete’ character, helped rescue a young child living with disabilities, who was trapped in an overturned vehicle after an apparent collision in Los Angeles.

On Wednesday afternoon, the actor witnessed the accident and noticed that there was a child strapped to the car seat. He and a bystander, Monica Jackson, worked together to save the baby.

“The only thing that saved the little kid was his car seat. Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else,” Trejo said to a photographer.

The baby’s grandmother was trapped in the driver’s seat after the collision. To get her out successfully, the firefighters on the scene had to use their equipment.

Trejo stated that he has worked with children living with special needs previously, so he was able to distract the child while his grandmother was being rescued.

“He was panicked. I said ‘okay, we have to use our superpowers.’ So he screamed ‘superpowers’ and we started yelling ‘superpowers.’ I said to do this, with the muscles” the actor stated.

“We got kind of a bond. I kept facing him away from the accident.”

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, three people were taken to the hospital, however, none of them had any life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
