Canadian R&B artist Aqyila recently released her track, Focus, a song that highlights self-confidence and determination in relationships.
Co-written by Aqyila and songwriter Sam Hook, who has worked with Ne-Yo, Miley Cyrus, French Montana, and Chris Brown, the track features production from Monro, known for collaborations with Jhené Aiko, Masego, and Tori Kelly. Monro also produced Aqyila’s 2024 release, Limbo.
With an upbeat rhythm and smooth delivery, Focus expresses the importance of knowing personal value and expecting commitment. The lyrics emphasize a clear message: “Your touch…your mind…your future…your present,” she sings, making it known she won’t accept anything less.
“I’m so happy to be stepping into 2025 with this song,” Aqyila said in a statement. “2024 was a year of so many firsts and so much growth for me. Getting into the studio and putting my heart into song helped me feel grounded in myself amidst all that change. Focus is all about feeling confident and knowing my worth – that’s the energy I’m bringing to 2025.”
