Brett Favre Called Out After Alleged Welfare Fraud Details Surface

Brett Favre

If we’re going to call out athletes and coaches this week, let’s shed some light on former NFL quarterback, Brett Favre.

Yesterday, another story – that kind of fell under the radar amidst the Ime Udoka news – revealed some unsettling information about Favre, and his connection to a Mississippi welfare spending scandal. Under the direction of John Davis, a former director of the Mississippi Department of Human Services, a welfare agency handed out MILLIONS of dollars in money that was intended to help underserved communities.

So, where did this money go instead? Well, according to reports, Davis had the money directed to “various projects.” One of those being a new volleyball facility requested by Brett Favre that only benefited his daughter. A classic tale of the rich stealing from the poor to fund their lifestyles.

As the conspiracy unfolded, Davis eventually agreed to plead guilty of fraud and theft. If/when convicted, he would face a maximum of 15 years behind bars. But back to Favre real quick..

After all of the dirty laundry was aired out, a former teammate of Favre’s called him out on the alleged fraud.

Rosenfels was a teammate of Favre’s when they both played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2009. Favre’s denial of any wrongdoing continued to look suspicious as a text, from five years ago, resurfaced.

“If you were to pay me, is there any way the media could find out where it came from and how much?” Favre wrote in the message. The $5M scheme allowed Favre to pocket $1.1M in welfare funds. So, where is all the media outrage and attention? Or is that only reserved for public figures with more melanin?
