Busta Rhymes has released the first two tracks from his highly anticipated collaborative album with the late Detroit producer J Dilla, unveiling “Spazzz” and “Talk Ya Shit,” featuring Lil Wayne.
The songs offer an early look at DILLAGENCE 2, which is scheduled for release Aug. 25 and continues Busta Rhymes’ collaboration with Dilla’s distinctive catalog of production.
On “Talk Ya Shit,” Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne trade commanding verses over a soulful, funky beat characteristic of Dilla’s production style. Busta delivers his trademark intensity while Wayne fills his verse with rapid-fire wordplay and punchlines.
A music video for “Talk Ya Shit,” released Sunday, features performances by Busta Rhymes and Wayne and mirrors the track’s high-energy approach.
“Spazzz” takes a different route, using three separate beat sections built around Dilla’s production and additional work from Detroit producers Black Milk and Kev Brown. Busta Rhymes adjusts his flow with each transition, shifting his cadence, rhythm, and emphasis as the production changes.
The accompanying visual for “Spazzz” focuses on Busta in the recording studio, highlighting the intensity of his performance as he moves through the track’s three-part structure.
Together, the two songs showcase the range of DILLAGENCE 2, pairing Busta Rhymes’ rapid-fire delivery with production rooted in Dilla’s influential sound.
Dilla, who died in 2006 at age 32, remains one of hip-hop’s most influential producers. His work has continued to shape generations of artists and producers, particularly through his unconventional rhythms, soulful samples, and distinctive approach to beat-making.
