Carol’s Daughter is commemorating the fourth anniversary of Love Delivered, a ground-breaking program that aims to improve maternal health for Black women giving birth. The initiative, which aims to empower, support, and equip Black birthing individuals and the broader community through impactful programs and partnerships, continues its mission with fervor.

Carol’s Daughter’s Love Delivered is collaborating with CVS to expand access to doula care through a new round of doula grants. In 2024, an additional $32,000 will be contributed to the Mama Glow Foundation to support its mission to enhance the maternal health experience for birthing individuals globally. The funds will specifically go towards providing doula support for Black families in need, particularly those residing in major cities such as NYC, Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Washington DC.

According to data from the CDC, the United States has the highest maternal mortality rate among high-income countries globally, with Black women disproportionately affected. Black women are more than twice as likely as white women to experience severe pregnancy-related complications and nearly three times as likely to die.

“Love Delivered is a testament to our unwavering belief that every Black birthing individual deserves access to compassionate, equitable support before, during, and after birth,” said Carol’s Daughter founder Lisa Price. “I’m humbled by the impact we’ve made and the lives we’ve touched over the years. As we enter year four, we’ll continue to advocate for Black birthing individuals, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued.”

Supermodel Chanel Iman joins the initiative this year, aiming to amplify its message on social media by sharing her personal maternal health journey. Through this, she hopes to raise awareness and encourage others to share their stories, fostering a community of shared experiences and driving meaningful change in maternal healthcare.

Furthermore, Carol’s Daughter has partnered with NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the nation’s leading comprehensive academic healthcare systems, to address the needs of Black maternal and pediatric patients. The collaboration involves providing specialized hair care kits to maternal and pediatric patients, including shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and other essential accessories. Over 30,000 products have been donated to NewYork-Presbyterian patients and community members to date.

Since its inception, Love Delivered in partnership with the Mama Glow Foundation has engaged with nearly half a million individuals through events, doula support grants, educational programs, and webinars. The initiative has funded over 120 births through the Mama Glow Foundation and reached over 5.1 billion people through digital advocacy efforts.

“Our partnership with Carol’s Daughter has been deeply impactful and innovative, rooted in service of the community,” said Mama Glow founder Latham Thomas. “Through our awareness campaigns, content, and national doula service delivery program, we have influenced care delivery and inspired other organizations to model their programs accordingly. The Love Delivered partnership provides hope for a brighter future.”
