Courtney A. Kemp, the creator behind the “Power” franchise and Netflix’s new crime drama “Nemesis,” has signed a multiyear overall agreement with Apple TV+, marking another major move in the competition for top television creators.
Under the agreement, Kemp and her production company, End of Episode, will develop television projects exclusively for Apple TV+, while the streamer will receive a first-look option on film projects, according to reports published Wednesday.
The deal arrives as “Nemesis,” her latest series for Netflix, gains traction following its May debut. The crime drama stars Matthew Law and Y’lan Noel and follows a detective and criminal strategist locked in a cat-and-mouse conflict in Los Angeles.
Kemp became one of television’s most recognized showrunners after launching the Starz drama “Power” in 2014. The series ran for six seasons and expanded into multiple spinoffs, helping establish Kemp as a key figure in franchise television production.
The new arrangement also signals a shift from her previous high-profile overall pact with Netflix, signed in 2021. That agreement supported the development of new series through her End of Episode production company and led to the creation of “Nemesis.”
Apple TV+ has continued to expand its roster of exclusive creator partnerships as streaming platforms compete for established producers with proven franchise records.
The company has increased investment in original scripted programming in recent years, including dramas, comedies, and limited series aimed at strengthening subscriber growth globally.
Financial terms of Kemp’s new agreement were not disclosed.
