Grammy Award-winning artist Durand Bernarr brought music, skating, and civic engagement together in Dallas as the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and HeadCount teamed with the singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ for a special edition of his “Rollin’ with the Homies” skate experience.
Held at Arlington Skatium, “Durand Bernarr Presents Rollin’ with the Homies: A Birthday Boogie” was presented as part of ASCAP Citizen, the performing rights organization’s nonpartisan civic engagement initiative. The event coincided with efforts surrounding National Voter Registration Day, which was held Sept. 15. National Voter Registration Day organizers reported more than 3,500 events across the country this year.
The first 100 fans who took action with HeadCount before the event or at the door were eligible to receive free admission. HeadCount’s terms for the promotion confirmed that qualifying participants could receive a free ticket after providing proof of participation.
Bernarr launched “Rollin’ with the Homies” in Dallas in June 2024, blending his work as a recording artist with his love of DJing and roller skating. The event has since traveled to venues across the country.
The Dallas celebration also doubled as a birthday event for Bernarr following his Sept. 16 performance at Dos Equis Pavilion while touring with fellow Grammy Award winner and ASCAP member Kehlani. Kehlani also made a guest appearance at the skating event.
Inside Arlington Skatium, Bernarr took control of the DJ booth under his DJ moniker, DJ TBD aka Bra Coley. The night mixed skating, dancing, music, and live vocals, with Bernarr moving between the booth and the rink while performing for fans.
The event connected Bernarr’s entertainment platform with ASCAP Citizen and HeadCount’s voter registration work. National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic initiative designed to help eligible Americans register to vote or update their registration. The 2026 observance brought together more than 140 national partners and thousands of community organizations.
ASCAP Citizen is expected to continue voter registration outreach and civic engagement efforts ahead of the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.
