Editorial: Facebook Refuses to Remove @ihatepeopleofcolour

UPDATE 7:27pm

Facebook’s media office just informed me that after investigating my complaint, they have found the account DID violate their community guideline and it has been deleted.

ORIGINAL EDITORIAL

It’s becoming more apparent that Facebook, including its subsidiary Instagram, as a brand seems to lack of a moral compass. There are certain things that are subjective. And, then there are things like this.

How is it possible a user account that clearly reads “I hate people of colour” doesn’t seem to “likely doesn’t go against” their community guidelines.

After posting the above screenshot on social media, several users reported the same account and received the same response.

Many have accused Facebook moderators of cultural bias, taking immediate action against people of colour and our allies who may seem to violate their guidelines but reserving judgment regarding their white or alt-right peers.

For a company that declared Black lives mattered, this is an example of its words not matching its actions. You cannot post how Black lives matter and allow people of colour to be blatantly disrespected on your platforms.

We are holding you accountable.

I have personally reached out to the media office of Facebook and await their response.
