Editorial: Nick Cannon Endorses Kanye, He Can’t Be Trusted

After the way things went down last month with Kanye’s rants on Twitter, you would think it would be inconceivable for someone to seriously take his presidential quest seriously.

Enter Nick Cannon who thinks simply because Kanye west is Black, he is deserving of our vote.

As a BIPOC, it is as extremely irresponsible as it is detrimental to reduce our electoral decision-making to a matter of complexion. And no matter how progressive we may strive to be, a person who intentionally lapses in taking medication for his diagnosed mental illness is far from idea to run the country.

We already have one unqualified person currently sitting in the White House. Do we really want another?

Kanye has been exposed for collaborating with Trump to divide the vote, even working with known republican operatives. He clearly doesn’t serve the interest of the Black Americans or the country as a whole.

Whether Nick is overextending himself to conservatives after lambasting white Americans and being fired from role with Viacom, his efforts to support the racist agenda of Donald Trump clearly undermines the love he claims to have for both, the people and the culture.

It’s time for us as a collective to look past the words of these celebrities and take full measure of their actions. You can’t be for us and support the same goals as white supremacists nationwide.

Nick Cannon has paid a heavy price for not thinking before speaking on behalf of the culture, but he doesn’t get to make up for it our expense.

This circles back to the point of this editorial. He can’t be trusted or respected. He’s worse than Terry Crews because at least the latter doesn’t pretend to pro-Black.

Regardless of their intent, there’s is one thing that all three aforementioned Black men have in common – despite their past acts – they are enemies of the culture and should be treated as such.
