Legendary Harlem based former drug lord Alberto “Alpo” Martinez was murdered in a drive-by shooting early yesterday in his neighborhood.
He was shot at least five times while in a vehicle near the corner of West 147th Street and Fredrick Douglass Boulevard.
The inspiration for the classic 2022 movie Paid in Full, Alpo was best known for the murder of his partner and best friend Rich Porter. He would later become a government informant in exchange for lenient sentence for several crimes including 14 murders.
According to reports, he was supposedly enrolled in witness protection but decided to return to Harlem.
At press time, the motive of the shooting is still unknown though it is widely believed that it may be an act of retaliation for the long list of misdeeds from his past including several murders and snitching.
Alpo was 55 years of age at the time of his death.
