When it comes to branding, in most cases, the best agency is one that can truly identify the needs of its clients. This is extremely important when the brand is a Black-owned business.

Teja Smith of Get Social has made uplifting Black-owned businesses her company’s mission. Get Social focuses on providing its clients with all the necessary assets including resources and information to succeed in the marketplace.

Smith explains, “Black people are quite literally the creators of what trends in the digital marketing space. Without our voices, strategy and blueprint of what we’ve created the marketing space is noticeably missing a huge part when the work is executed. You not only need just a Black person to fill a quota, Black teams are the leading the way in what goes viral and what doesn’t.”

A great example of this occurred at last month when the Get Social team led a successful promotion, Outdoorsy Black Women’s 2nd annual Wine and Waterfalls event in Helen, Georgia, from May 11th to 14th. Attendees from across the country, gathered to participate in the esteemed occasion. Touted as a curative space for Black women to reconnect to the land, the four day event includes multiple activities including dancing, hiking, painting, and communing to create an atmosphere that unified women across generations. With the help of Get Social, following the event, the number of Outdoorsy Black Women TikTok followers increase from 900 to over 20,000.

“Working with Get Social has been an amazing experience. As a brand you never know if someone else will be able to capture and convey your voice. Get Social has been able to capture our voice and elevate it. We’ve been able to go viral on several platforms and increased the membership of our community,” shares Toyin Ajayi, Founder of Outdoorsy Black Women. “Knowing that our social media is in the right hands has allowed us to be able to focus on building our community and brand. I look forward to seeing where they take us in the future.” Toyin Ajayi, Founder of Outdoorsy Black Women.

The successful collaboration between the two Black-women-led companies not provided an unforgettable event for women of color, but showcased how the power of sisterhood in business could benefit the culture as a whole.
