“This video was inspired by HBO’s hit show Insecure. I feel like I relate to Issa in many ways, which ultimately made this video exciting to shoot. I tried to implement key elements of the show throughout the video, such as Issa’s iconic rap mirror scenes, and her self-care Sunday’s with Molly. We chose to do an Insecure theme because the concept of the song presents the question, “Why you gotta do me like that?”, which corresponds with Issa’s experiences with men in the show and of course, my experiences with men in my life.”
