LeBron James Breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s All-Time Scoring Record

LeBron James

LeBron James.

Tonight, in the third quarter of the Lakers vs. Thunder game in LA, LeBron James made history. Coming into the game, James was just 36 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record. With ten seconds left in the third, James pulled up for a fadeaway jumper near the free-throw line.. nothing but net!

38,388.

In attendance, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar met LeBron James at center court to congratulate James. Even with the Lakers down, heading into the fourth, the game clock stopped for the king. As his wife and kids embraced him while a tribute played on the jumbotron, James soaked it all in. We ALL just witnessed his greatness.

Even with a quarter left in regulation, the whole world was put on pause to honor one of basketball’s most iconic players. At least that’s what it felt like watching something so historic. Whether you’re a fan of his, or not, any die-hard basketball fan can appreciate what just happened. Regardless of his critics, and some of the choices (and moves) he’s made along the way, there’s no denying LeBron James’ legacy. So, what’s next? 40,000 points? Another ring? Another move? Or will he finally hang up the jersey? We can’t predict his next move, but we can all give LeBron James his roses now.

Congratulations!
