Mez Recruits T.I. and Deante’ Hitchcock for New Single ‘Way Too Much’

GRAMMY-nominated artist, songwriter, producer, and director Mez has released his new single, “Way Too Much,” featuring T.I. and Deante’ Hitchcock.

Produced by Mike & Keys and Jake One, the track offers another preview of Mez’s debut album, “Electric Future Gangster,” due Nov. 20 through Mass Appeal.

“Way Too Much” centers on the feeling of being overwhelmed by expectations, everyday responsibilities, outside opinions, and the pressure that can come with success. Mez, T.I., and Hitchcock approach those themes from different angles, blending humor, reflection, and personal observations throughout the record.

The song follows “Platinum Fubu,” featuring UMI, which explores the uncertainty surrounding a relationship without a defined label. Mez has also released “Still Loading,” giving listeners another look at the range of topics expected on the upcoming album.

“Electric Future Gangster” will feature appearances from J. Cole and Anderson.Paak on “Hell Nah,” along with contributions from Kal Banx, Sowell, Tabi, LAYA, Cyanca, Gwen Bunn, and others.

The album reflects Mez’s work across music, filmmaking, relationships, and culture while documenting the personal pressures that accompany ambition.

A Raleigh, North Carolina, native, Mez gained attention for his work on Dr. Dre’s 2015 album, “Compton,” contributing writing to 14 of its 16 tracks. He later appeared on Dreamville’s GRAMMY-nominated “Revenge of the Dreamers III.”

Mez has also built a career behind the camera. He made his directorial debut with J. Cole’s “Middle Child” music video and has since worked on projects involving Jordan Brand, Nike, Ari Lennox, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, and Cole.

He is also the founder of Heirs Entertainment and its production division, Made By Heirs.

With “Electric Future Gangster” arriving Nov. 20, “Way Too Much” expands the picture Mez is building of an artist navigating success while confronting the personal and social pressures surrounding it.
