Nicki Minaj to Exclusively World Premiere New Music Video “High School” on MTV

Young Money platinum selling artist Nicki Minaj (NickiMinaj.MTV.com) is set to exclusively world premiere her new music video “High School” featuring Lil Wayne on MTV and across its various TV and digital screens on Tuesday, April 2 at 10:53 a.m. ET. Immediately following, Minaj will sit for an exclusive interview with MTV News during “MTV First: Nicki Minaj” on MTV.com.

“High School,” from the album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up,” will reach the entire interactive community, via MTV’s more than 300 digital media properties around the world. Fans will be able to simultaneously watch the video online along with the exclusive interview at nickiminaj.mtv.tv.

Fans can begin submitting questions immediately via Twitter using the @MTVNews handle and hash-tags #AskNicki and #MTVFirst.

The celebration of Minaj’s new song will kick off on Monday, April 1 with MTV Hits and MTV Jams, MTV’s 24-hour digital all-music networks, highlighting her collection of music throughout the day.

On Tuesday, April 2, MTV and MTV2 will kick off the day with Nicki Minaj video blocks during AMTV and AMTV2. Immediately following its premiere, the music video will go into regular rotation across MTV Hits, MTV Jams and the following morning on MTV and MTV2 during AMTV and AMTV2 respectively.

In 2009, Lil Wayne signed Nicki Minaj to his Young Money label. Since that time, Minaj has charted a meteoric rise that has turned her into hip hop’s trend-setting, fashion forward leading female MC and amassed a loyal global Twitter following of over 14 million “Barbies.”

She is the first female MC to place seven simultaneous entries on the Billboard Hot 100, the first hip hop judge on FOX’s “American Idol,” and the first female MC to be included on MTV’s Annual “Hottest MCs in The Game” list.

Minaj won “Best Female Pop Video” at last year’s “2012 MTV Video Music Awards” for her video, “Starships” beating out Katy Perry, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Beyonce. She also won “Best Hip Hop Video” at the “2012 MTV Europe Music Awards.” In 2011, she won an MTV Video Music Award for “Best Hip Hop Video” for “Super Bass”, as well as American Music Awards for “Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album” and “Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist.”

At the BET Awards Minaj has won “Best Hip Hop Female” for three consecutive years also snagging the “Best New Artist” award in 2010. Minaj has also received Grammy nominations in the “Best New Artist,” “Best Rap Performance,” and “Best Rap Album” categories.
