DJ Akademiks Sued for Rape and Defamation

In a recent development, DJ Akademiks, the renowned hip-hop commentator known for his controversial statements and affiliations, faces serious legal action following accusations of rape. Rolling Stone reported that Fauziya Abashe has filed a lawsuit against Akademiks, whose real name is Livingston Allen, citing incidents that allegedly occurred in 2022.

Abashe, who had previously dated Akademiks in 2021, detailed that the alleged assaults took place nearly a year after their relationship ended.

According to her allegations in the lawsuit, Abashe visited Akademiks’s residence in New Jersey. She claims that she was drugged, assaulted, and raped by two men on his pool deck. The following morning, she alleges waking up to Akademiks engaging in what she has described as a brutal rape.

Notably, Abashe mentioned that Akademiks later showed her surveillance footage purportedly capturing the assaults committed by the two men. The lawsuit also includes text messages from Akademiks advising Abashe to get tested for sexually transmitted infections, along with admissions of sexual encounters during a recorded phone call.

Initially, Abashe reported the incidents to law enforcement but opted against pressing charges. However, she proceeded to file the lawsuit after Akademiks publicly discussed the matter in a video on December 23, 2023, suggesting that Abashe had voluntarily participated in the events.

Abashe’s legal counsel, Tyrone Blackburn, informed Rolling Stone that they pursued litigation after unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter privately. The lawsuit contends that Akademiks defamed Abashe by implying that she willingly participated and denying his involvement altogether. She also stated in her complaint response that she is confident justice will be served and that her actions will stop other women from going through what she did.
