PepsiCo is making a triumphant comeback to the 2023 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands, celebrating the pivotal role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their marching bands in HBCU culture.

Doritos® SOLID BLACK, as part of its unwavering commitment to HBCUs, is contributing $160,000 to shine a spotlight on Black Changemakers and provide support to HBCU musicians. These exceptional students, nominated by their band directors, will be recognized during the 2023 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands in Houston.

Guided by DJ Mr. Rogers, an HBCU alum and SOLID BLACK Changemaker, the spotlight will illuminate the students’ remarkable achievements. The Doritos SOLID BLACK Changemaker Lounge will not only offer mentorship but also serve as a platform to showcase the talents of the 2023 Changemakers.

Doritos SOLID BLACK is also offering an exclusive glimpse into its limited-edition merchandise, skillfully designed by Bricks & Woods. The proceeds from the merchandise collection will contribute to the efforts of Rescue a Generation, a nonprofit organization.

In collaboration with the PepsiCo Foundation, Doritos SOLID BLACK has acknowledged the accomplishments of over 25 Black Changemakers. The 2023 cohort is being granted $50,000 each along with invaluable coaching. Additionally, Doritos has unveiled a new advertisement and introduced the Doritos Spicy Pineapple Jalapeno flavor.

PepsiCo’s broader dedication to HBCUs extends to the upcoming multi-stop HBCU Tour, which is powered by Pepsi Zero Sugar and Doritos. This initiative, set to coincide with the football season, will facilitate meaningful connections with students.
