Reality television personality Sidney Starr was arrested in the Atlanta area after authorities accused her of sexually assaulting a juvenile at a hotel, according to police.
Starr, whose legal name is Sidney Favors, was taken into custody Sunday following an investigation by the Hapeville Police Department. Police said the alleged assault occurred at the Embassy Suites hotel on International Boulevard in Hapeville, a city just south of Atlanta.
Authorities charged Favors with aggravated child molestation, sexual battery against a child under the age of 16, and sodomy, according to police and Fulton County jail records. She was booked into the Fulton County Jail.
The Hapeville Police Department said it is not releasing additional details because the investigation involves a juvenile.
“Because this case involves a juvenile, no additional information will be released from our agency,” the department said in a statement.
The investigation has been turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution, police said.
As of Monday, court records did not indicate whether Favors had retained an attorney who could speak on her behalf. It was not immediately known when she would make her first court appearance.
Under U.S. law, criminal charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Starr gained public attention through appearances on reality television, including “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” and has also appeared on other television productions and in music videos.
The case remains under investigation.
